Your skin isn’t dry, it just needs to be exfoliated…

As a professional MUA for years, I’ve seen all types of skin and heard from so many of my clients that think they have dry skin, when in fact, they mostly just have DEAD skin that just needs to be sloughed off.

When I ask my clients if they exfoliate, an overwhelming percentage of them actually say “No,’ or “Not often.” Their skin usually has some areas of texture and patches of dryness, but I know this is mostly just surface issues and can easily be mended by a good routine.

Before I recommend any type of scrub, I always say use a glycolic acid or some type of AHA. These types of acids work to break down the bonds that keep the dead layers of skin holding on for dear life, and then you can easier scrub them off later.

I generally advise my clients to use their AHA product 1-2 times a week.

Recently, I had a bride that did a very last minute trial, one week before her wedding, and she had dry, flaky patches on her skin. I recommended she immediately get a glycolic product and to use twice before the wedding. By the wedding day, I could actually see and feel the difference in her skin. It worked incredibly fast and he makeup looked even more flawless!

Here are some of my favorites in a few different price points:

First Aid Beauty - Facial Radiance Pads- $38

I love these because the premoistened pads just make it easy for you.

A stronger version that works more like a serum. They instructions recommends to use daily, but I would not advise that unless you would like irritated skin.

IMPORTANT- Make sure to always apply a sunscreen and reapply when using AHAS, your skin is more susceptible to sun damage. Throw on a hat, stay in the shade, etc.
